Why Being Active Matters

17/05/2026

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), regular physical activity helps:

  • reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure,
  • prevent depression and anxiety,
  • improve sleep quality,
  • support concentration and mental health,
  • increase life expectancy and reduce the risk of premature death.

The WHO recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week for adults. This can include walking, jogging, cycling, hiking, or any type of movement that can realistically become part of everyday life.

The challenge of modern life is not only the lack of exercise, but the lack of movement in general. We spend more and more time sitting — in front of computers, in cars, or at home. That is why even small daily activities can make a significant difference over time.
